Getting your system size wrong is one of the most expensive mistakes in off-grid solar. Undersize the battery bank and you’re left without power before sunrise. Oversize the panels and you’ve spent money you didn’t need to. This calculator takes your actual appliance list and gives you engineering-grade design minimums — so you buy exactly what your system needs, nothing more, nothing less.

Step 01
Build your load list
Add every appliance you plan to run — name, wattage, quantity, and daily hours. The calculator totals your Wh demand automatically.
Step 02
Set your system parameters
Choose your battery chemistry, system voltage, autonomy days (days without sun), peak sun hours for your location, and estimated system losses.
Step 03
Read your results
Hit calculate and get your minimum panel wattage, battery bank size, inverter rating, and MPPT charge controller spec — ready to take to your supplier.

Solar array (Wp)
The total peak watt capacity your panel array needs to recharge your battery bank within one day of good sun. If your result falls between standard panel sizes, always round up to the next available size.
Battery bank (kWh / Ah)
The minimum capacity at your chosen system voltage, accounting for your battery chemistry’s depth of discharge and your autonomy days. Your actual installed bank should meet or exceed this figure.
Inverter (kVA)
The minimum continuous kVA rating your inverter must handle, calculated from your peak simultaneous load with a 25% headroom margin. Always buy pure sine wave for sensitive electronics.
MPPT charge controller (A)
The minimum charge current rating for your controller. Always verify the controller’s maximum input voltage against your panel string configuration before purchasing.
